This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The left side has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!

Crafting or Art...
Fri Mar 20, 2009, 2:35 PM
I had this bright idea to start a craft business. Problem is, making things that people actually want to buy is tedious and a lot like pulling teeth. It doesn't feel challenging enough.
I would really love to sell my art, especially my drawings, since I can do that for hours and never feel bored. Problem is, people don't buy art from nobodies. No matter how fantastic my art is, popularity and name recognition matter. Also, the general public likes realism... even the fantasy art that seems to be so popular is realistic, in my estimation. The elves, the monsters, the unicorns, whatever---they all look realistic. I had a drawing teacher last year who pretty much summed up what I think of realism: "you can spend all this time making a drawing look exactly like a 3-dimensional object, but at the end of the day, all you have is something that looks exactly like a 3-dimensional object. There are many, many artists out there, professional or not, who can do just that. What makes your realistic drawing any different from what they've done?"
I will probably spend some time thinking about this... probably while drawing. I have to do something. I graduate in May, and I don't know how long I can stick around at my parents' house. The American Way is to get a full-time job and spend the rest of your life paying bills and taxes. Work is supposed to be your goal after leaving college. I really wish I lived in a society that didn't have such a Puritan work ethic. I just don't buy the idea that work is what you have to do... or that work is worthwhile. Maybe I will scrape together the money to move to France.
